The death toll in the crash of a Japanese rescue helicopter near Tsushima Island has grown to three people. This was announced on Monday, April 7, according to the NHK News agency.

Communication with the helicopter was lost when it was transporting a patient from Tsushima Island in Nagasaki Prefecture to a hospital in Fukuoka City.

Three of the six people on board, including the patient, her son and a doctor, were pronounced dead, the agency said.

The Japanese Coast Guard is currently investigating the details of the incident.

Earlier, on April 6, a helicopter extinguishing forest fires crashed in South Korea. The aircraft crashed into a mountain in the northwestern region of Daegu, killing the pilot.
