- Scientists will test the theory of the origin of life from space using the Bion-M2 satellite

The launch of the Bion-M2 spacecraft with animals on board is scheduled for July 2025. It will be launched into a polar orbit and will spend 30 days in flight. 22 scientific programs will be implemented during the mission.
"The satellite will be launched to an altitude of about 400 km into a polar orbit. It passes over the poles of the Earth. The Russian Space Station will fly approximately along this trajectory in the future. With the help of Bion-M2, scientists will study the dangers that await astronauts in these areas of space and how negative impacts can be prevented," Vladimir Sychev, Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the lead scientific organization for the project, told Izvestia.
For example, research will help determine at what depth to build stations on the Moon in order to protect people from the flow of galactic particles and secondary neurons.
A separate experiment will be devoted to the possibility of replacing liquid-drinkable food with a gel composition during long-term space travel.
In addition, scientists will place live bacterial cultures on a special basalt slab on the outside of the spacecraft. This device will simulate a meteorite. The experience will help researchers confirm or refute the theory of the origin of life on Earth from space.
