Book lovers in Russia do not have enough detective genre books on store shelves. This follows from a survey conducted by the Bukvoed book network, which I reviewed on Monday, April 7."Газета.Ru ".

Thus, according to the results of the study, Russians expressed a desire to see in bookstores a wider range of detective stories (21.8%), classical works (9.2%) and romantic prose (7.9%).

The survey also revealed that 58.2% of participants read books by both domestic and foreign writers, while 11.3% prefer exclusively Russian authors.

In addition, it became known that 34.7% of respondents would like to pay more attention to classics, 30.5% lack time for fantasy and science fiction, and 15.9% for non—fiction literature. One in ten survey participants noted that they would devote more time to historical literature and books about their Homeland.

Most of the respondents are regular visitors to bookstores. Among them, 35.6% buy books about once a month, 23% — every one to two weeks and more often. Another 19.2% make purchases every two months, while 22.2% make purchases less than once a quarter.

Although many remain faithful to either printed or electronic books, the number of readers using different formats is growing. 31.8% of the respondents stated that they freely switch between paper, electronic and audiobooks. Nevertheless, the majority (56.1%) still read only print media.

The brand director of the Bukvoed chain, Tatiana Shcherbina, noted in an interview with Gazeta.Ru", that Russians continue to be interested in reading. According to her, the most active readers are young people aged 19-24.

"Right now we are witnessing the return of the fashion for erudition and erudition. Even the most active consumers of fast content are starting to get tired of it and are returning to books," Shcherbina said.

Earlier, on April 2, it was reported that a new book "From Suez to Camp David. The confrontation between the USA and the USSR in the Middle East in 1950-1970." by the Russian historian Alexei Urazov. The pages of the book deal with secret negotiations between the political leaders of the countries, military coups and economic processes.
