Russia expects to sign a strategic partnership and cooperation agreement with Venezuela in 2025, the Russian Embassy in Caracas told Izvestia.

Despite Brazil's position, Caracas has not lost interest in unification.

"This document is an important milestone in the development of Russian—Venezuelan cooperation, and there is mutual interest in signing it as soon as the opportunity presents itself. It would be symbolic to do this in the jubilee year 2025," the Russian diplomatic mission told Izvestia.

The agreement will reflect the current level of relations between the Russian Federation and Venezuela, consolidate what has been achieved within the framework of the bilateral strategic partnership, and lay the foundations for a new stage of cooperation, the Russian diplomats concluded.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during video talks with Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, said that the agreement had been agreed, and it would be signed during Maduro's visit to Russia at a convenient time for him.
