The army of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) has been put on high alert by decree of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after threats from US President Donald Trump about military action against Tehran. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on Sunday, April 6, citing sources.

It is noted that in this way the government of Iran conducts indirect negotiations with the United States.

"Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has put the Iranian Armed Forces on high alert," the publication says.

In addition, Khamenei said that he had warned the countries of the Middle East that their support for the US attacks would be considered a hostile act.

"[Such an act] will have serious consequences for them," the supreme leader of Iran stressed.

Earlier in the day, a member of Iran's unicameral parliament, Mohammad Qasim Osmani, said that the republic should begin a rapid movement towards the creation of nuclear weapons in order to be able to negotiate with the United States on equal terms. According to him, it is reasonable and logical to avoid a military conflict, but "global arrogance has left Iran no other way."

On April 3, Sergey Balmasov, an expert at the Middle East Institute and an expert at the Russian International Affairs Council, told Izvestia that the American leader's threats about bombing Iran were real. However, the reports that this country will cease to exist are propaganda.
