KHL President Morozov congratulates Ovechkin on historic NHL record

Alexey Morozov, President of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), congratulated Alexander Ovechkin, a forward of the Washington Capitals NHL club, on setting a record for the number of goals scored in the regular National Hockey League championships. This was announced on April 6 by the KHL press service.
"Congratulations to Alexander Ovechkin for setting the record for the most goals in the regular NHL championships. Sasha is a legend, his name is forever inscribed in the history of world hockey," said Morozov.
According to Morozov, Ovechkin is a truly great athlete: "hardworking, skilled, persistent and purposeful."
Morozov added that Ovechkin has been a key figure in Russian and world hockey for more than twenty years.
"I wish him new achievements so that he pleases the fans with his phenomenal game," the KHL head emphasized.
Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season on April 6 against the New York Islanders, breaking the record of four-time Stanley Cup winner Wayne Gretzky, who scored 894 goals. He scored a goal against a compatriot playing for the opposing team, Ilya Sorokin. So, Ovechkin topped the ranking of the most accurate snipers in the league.
