The United States will not delay the introduction of new trade duties, despite the desire of a number of international partners to negotiate on this issue. This was announced on April 6 by the US Secretary of Commerce Howard Latnik.
"There is no delay. They are definitely with us for days and weeks, it's obvious," Latnik said in an interview with CBS television, answering a question about whether Trump is considering the possibility of postponing the imposition of duties.

In turn, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant assured that the introduction of new trade restrictions does not pose a risk to the country's economic stability. According to him, the administration does not believe that the duties will bring the recession closer.
"I don't see any reason why we should enter a recession," Bessent said in an interview with NBC television, answering a question about whether duties bring the risk of recession closer.
On April 2, Trump announced large-scale measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For Europe, this figure has been increased to 20%, and for China — to 34%. In his speech, the president called April 2 the day when Americans will become rich again.
Against the background of the imposed import duties and Trump's policy in general, large protests began in the United States on April 5.
