Reuters: Khamenei has put the Iranian Armed Forces on high alert
The Supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ordered the armed forces of the Islamic Republic to be put on high alert. This was reported on April 6 by the Reuters news agency, citing an unnamed Iranian official.
In addition, according to the source, Iran has sent a warning to Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey and Bahrain about severe consequences in the event of any support by these countries for US military operations against the Islamic Republic. Tehran will regard such behavior by its neighbors in the region as an act of hostility.
At the same time, a Reuters source claims that the Iranian side intends to conduct indirect negotiations with the United States through Oman. According to him, such contacts may begin soon.
"The indirect talks provide a chance to assess the seriousness of Washington's [intentions] to achieve a political solution with Iran," the agency quoted the official as saying.
On April 5, President of the Islamic Republic Masoud Peseshkian said that Tehran strives for an equal dialogue with other countries and does not accept threatening attempts at negotiations from Washington. He also called on the Iranian people to unite in order to force the opponents of the state to think about the consequences of their attacks against the country.
Earlier, on April 2, it was reported that US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with "disappearance by September" if the country does not agree to the nuclear deal and does not curtail its program. The American leader has already warned Tehran that failure to conclude an agreement would lead to bombing of the Islamic Republic.
Later, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that threats of attacks on Iran's nuclear energy infrastructure were unacceptable, as they could lead to irreversible radiological and humanitarian consequences.
