The White House named the reason for Russia's non-inclusion in the list of US duties.

Russia was not included in the list of countries against which the United States imposes duties, because Washington is currently negotiating with it to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on April 6 by Kevin Hassett, director of the National Economic Council of the White House.
According to him, due to negotiations with Russia, US President Donald Trump "decided not to mix these two issues."
"This does not mean that Russia will be treated completely differently than any other country," Hassett said in an interview with ABC television.
He also noted that we are talking about saving the lives that the parties lose in the conflict, so it would be "counterproductive" to raise the issue of duties during attempts to achieve peace.
"Last night, I received a message from the US trade representative that more than 50 countries have asked Trump to start negotiations on duties, but they are doing this because they understand that they are responsible for most of the tariffs," Hassett added.
On April 2, Trump announced large-scale measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For Europe, this figure has been increased to 20%, and for China — to 34%. In his speech, the president called April 2 the day when Americans will become rich again.
Against the background of the imposed import duties and Trump's policy in general, large protests began in the United States on April 5. According to The Guardian newspaper, the outrage was caused, among other things, by the advancement in the career of an entrepreneur and the head of the Department of State Efficiency (DOGE). Elon Musk's USA, reduction of spending on healthcare, reduction of measures to support the environment and national parks.
A member of the American Congress from the Democratic Party, Al Green, in turn, announced his intention to initiate the impeachment process against Trump within 30 days.
