Ukrainian police have established a security checkpoint at the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, so monks can enter and exit only according to the lists compiled by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Archimandrite Polycarp (Linenko), the monastery's installer, announced this on April 6.

"You can live, and you can serve, and you can leave the territory, and you can return to the territory. Even the SBU has compiled personal lists. That is, I approach, show my pass to the police, who are sitting near the entrance, they check and solemnly let me through according to this list," the clergyman told the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ) portal.

He noted that against the background of the ongoing events, only 10-15 priests left the lavra. However, the main part of the brotherhood remained in place.

"Life in the monastery continues. Divine services are held daily. Despite all the difficulties, we try to preserve the traditions," the Archimandrite added.

On April 4, Roman Lukin, Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that the actions of the Ukrainian authorities in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra undermine the authority of the church. He noted that for this purpose, the commission of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine opens the crayfish during the inspection of the relics of saints in the reserve in order to check them and declare that the relics were planted, that the church has nothing sacred, and that the church is deceiving.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) said that the commission of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine not only inspects the relics of the saints of the Kiev Caves Lavra, but conducts their ethnic audit.

The Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ) announced the beginning of the seizure of the Nearby caves of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra on March 28. It was noted that police officers entered the closed premises of the monastery. One of the employees of the lavra was spotted on the territory with a saw grinder in his hands. On March 6, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine announced that a special commission would assess the condition and safety of the relics of saints in the Near and Far caves of the Kiev Caves Lavra.
