Danis Zaripov hopes to play with Ovechkin again

Russian hockey player Danis Zaripov hopes that he will again be able to play for the same team with Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin, who broke the "eternal record" of Canadian Wayne Gretzky for goals in the NHL regular season.
"This is a global event. Of course, we are proud of him, proud that we played with him. Well, maybe we'll also play. Of course, not in professional hockey anymore," said the only five—time winner of the Gagarin Cup.
Like Ovechkin, Zaripov regularly played for the Russian national team at international championships. One of the most memorable moments is winning the World Championships in 2008 and 2014. Then the Russian hockey players outplayed Canada and Finland in the decisive matches.
"For hockey players, of course, the most striking events occur precisely in their professional activities. Of course, it's 2008, and we won the World Cup together in Canada. In Minsk in 2014, we also raised the World Cup together," recalled the legendary striker of Ak Bars and Magnitogorsk Metallurg.
Zaripov, along with other Hockey Legends club players and Ovechkin's first coach Alexander Filippov, participated in the filming of the video for the band's song "Hands up!" — a special version of the song "I'm already 18" was prepared specifically for the sniper record of the Washington Capitals captain. The congratulatory clip was shown on the TV channels of the National Media Group (NMG).
On April 6, Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the regular NHL championships in a guest match against the New York Islanders, ahead of Canadian hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, who scored 894 goals in 21 seasons.
Wayne Gretzky surpassed Gordie Howe in the 1993-94 season, the record stood for 31 years, but now Alexander Ovechkin has taken over the title of the NHL's top sniper. According to other hockey players, Ovechkin's record will last for decades.
