The pilot died in a helicopter crash while extinguishing a fire in South Korea.


While extinguishing a forest fire in the South Korean city of Daegu in the south-east of the country, a fire helicopter crashed, the pilot was killed. This was reported on April 6 by the Yonhap news agency, citing the fire department.
According to the material, the incident occurred at 15:41 local time (09:41 Moscow time). The aircraft crashed on a mountain in the northwestern region of Daegu.
On April 2, Yonhap reported that the death toll from forest fires in the southeastern regions of South Korea had risen to 31 people. It was clarified that the fires damaged over 4 thousand houses, about 2 thousand agricultural and livestock facilities, seven temples and 986 other structures. As a result, about 48,000 hectares of forests were burned out in 11 regions, and more than 3,000 residents were left homeless.
On March 30, Reuters reported that the strongest forest fires in South Korea could have started due to a ceremony at a family grave.
