DOGE plans to lay off nuclear missile maintenance staff

The Department of Public Administration Efficiency (DOGE) of the United States, headed by businessman Elon Musk, announced the "secondary importance" of 8.5 thousand employees of the country's Ministry of Energy and the National Nuclear Safety Administration, which is engaged in the modernization and maintenance of nuclear warheads. "According to the document, about 500 positions in the nuclear safety Agency and about 8,000 jobs in the Department of Energy were considered insignificant. Some of them have already been reduced due to postponed resignations," the AP reports.

Also on March 30, WP announced the dismissal of hundreds of employees of the US Institute of Peace by decision of DOGE. According to the newspaper, some employees of the institute were offered severance pay or an extension of medical insurance in exchange for their signatures waiving the right to file a lawsuit.
