On the Japanese island of Kyushu, the Sakurajima volcano on the top of Mount Minami-dake has woken up again and has thrown an ash cloud 2.6 km high into the sky. This was reported by 373 News on April 6.
"At 15:24 (09:24 Moscow time. On the 5th, an explosion occurred in the crater at the top of Mount Minami-dake in Sakurajima, as a result of which smoke rose to a height of 2.6 km," the article says.
According to the Kagoshima Regional Meteorological Observatory, the volcano has spewed out quite a lot of ash. At the same time, there is no scattering of volcanic rocks.
It is specified that this is the 54th eruption of Sakurajima this year. The Meteorological Agency has set the third level of eruption danger, which implies restrictions on entry to the mountain.
The day before, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) raised the eruption hazard level of the Shimoe stratovolcano located on the island of Kyushu from two to three (out of five possible). It is specified that large emissions from the eruption can be scattered at a distance of up to 4 km from the crater. In this regard, the department called for special caution in this area.
