Thousands of young Ukrainians who came to the United States after the start of the special operation are afraid of deportation because of the migration policy of President Donald Trump. This was reported on April 4 by The Guardian newspaper, citing sources.

As indicated in the publication, with Trump's inauguration as head of state, the program of support for refugees from Ukraine was terminated: they can no longer renew their two-year work permits and protection from deportation. The US presidential administration has also suspended all migrant applications for additional assistance.

"These steps have led to the fact that hundreds of thousands of people found themselves in a state of insecurity after they were accepted into a safe haven," the newspaper writes.

According to the newspaper, Ukrainians face a high risk of being deported or detained.

"I don't want to stay here illegally, but I don't want to return to Ukraine either," one of the Ukrainian refugees in the United States is quoted as saying by The Guardian.

Since coming to power on January 20, Trump has repeatedly advocated stricter immigration policy. He stated that he intended to ensure the largest operation in American history to deport illegal migrants.
