At an interview, as a rule, the candidate talks about his skills and achievements, the employer — about the prospects and advantages of the company. On Saturday, April 6, Valentina Kurenkova, the GR director of Netology, told how to behave at the interview in an interview withГазета.Ru ".

So, the expert noted that everyone strives to look their best, so they embellish reality a little. Some increase their experience, while others add extra items to the list of responsibilities. Employers, for their part, may exaggerate the prospects for growth or keep silent about the difficulties in the team.

Small distortions are an integral part of business communication, Kurenkova said. However, as the expert pointed out, if you cross the line, you can lose trust on both sides.

Kurenkova noted that there are things that are always checked, and the deception will inevitably be revealed. These include: education (diplomas are easy to verify with a request), official work experience (data is available in the workbook and Pension Fund), as well as key professional skills (a test assignment will quickly identify a discrepancy).

So, the expert recommended, in case the truth came out after hiring, to honestly explain yourself.

"For example: "I wasn't really the head of the department, but I coordinated a team of several people." Usually, the employer is ready to forgive minor inaccuracies if the employee does a good job," said the GR Director.

But, according to the expert, if the lie is serious, such as impersonating a specialist with many years of experience, which does not exist, the consequences can be severe — from dismissal to loss of reputation in the professional environment.

Kurenkova stressed that it is important not to overstep the line beyond which some adaptation of facts becomes a problem.

So, the best strategy is not to invent a non—existent experience, but to present the real one competently, focusing on your strengths. After all, the employer does not need an ideal candidate on paper, but a person who can really cope with the tasks and earn trust, Kurenkova concluded.

Earlier, on April 4, Maria Bogdanova, a practicing psychologist, PhD, lecturer at the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis, told Izvestia what to do when faced with intrigue and manipulation at work. According to her, normally a person with a healthy mind is capable of open communication and does not need manipulation. But there are people who experience a certain pleasure from intrigues, underhanded games, indirect communications.
