The heads of the general staffs of France, Great Britain and Ukraine discussed the possible deployment of peacekeepers to the territories controlled by Kiev. This was announced on April 5 by the press service of the British Ministry of Defense.

"As part of the UK's efforts to build a coalition of willing <...>.."The Chief of the Defense Staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, met with his Ukrainian and French counterparts in Kiev. <...> The heads of the General Staffs reviewed the structure, size and composition of any future security forces in Ukraine," the statement said.

The authors of the message did not provide the names of the representatives of France and Ukraine who participated in the negotiations during the meeting.

Former Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Bryan stressed on March 31 that the deployment of the European military in Ukraine would require a lot of resources that Europe does not have. He noted that if both sides agree to a settlement deal, it may collapse if Britain and France send their troops to the territory of Ukraine in order to allegedly protect it.

On March 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that discussions in Europe about peacekeepers for Kiev were arrogance, a continuation of Kiev's incitement against Russia. According to him, the appearance of European peacekeepers in Ukraine will mean that the root causes of the crisis will not disappear for the Russian Federation.
