The expert named the reason for the high salaries of information security specialists in Russia

In recent years, the growth of the information security services market in Russia has led to significant salary increases for specialists in this industry. This was announced on April 5 by Evgeny Semenov, General Director of RTK Soft Labs LLC, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».

"When we are looking for a person who will ensure the security of business—critical data that allows a company to compete with other players or simply preserve and secure the data of its users and customers, these requirements are directly converted into business results," he said.

In this regard, salaries of millions of rubles no longer seem too high.

Semenov stressed that over the past three years, the demand for information security specialists has increased significantly. At the same time, the number of people with relevant competencies has not increased significantly.

According to experts' expectations, in 2026 in the Russian Federation, the salaries of senior information security specialists in the largest companies may consistently exceed 1 million rubles per month.

"Besides, the field of information security itself is a niche one. To work in it, employees need a serious basic mathematical education, which is a piece of history in Russia today. That is why the cost and demand for such specialists have always been high, and especially now," said Semenov.

Now in Russia, large technology companies themselves create training programs in the field of information security. They can also financially help specialized departments in higher education institutions.

"The government is also strengthening support for the industry. Some programs allow students of technical specialties to obtain additional qualifications in the field of information security for free. In addition, the Ministry of Finance allocates grants for research in the field of cybersecurity, and businesses receive tax benefits for using domestic solutions," the expert said.

According to him, there will be a shortage of information security specialists in the country for another 5-7 years. This will lead to an increase in wages and maintain the demand for workers in this area at a high level.

On April 2, economist Balynin listed the areas with the highest wage growth. The highest wage growth rates were observed in the areas of car manufacturing (+25.3%) and wood processing (+23.9%). The average salary for 2024 increased by 17.5% and amounted to almost 88 thousand rubles.
