In the UK, Labor MP Dan Norris has been arrested by police on suspicion of child rape and other sexual offences. This was reported on April 5 by the Daily Mail newspaper.
"Dan Norris, former Labor minister, <... He was taken into custody after police raided his house in the constituency on Friday," the newspaper informs.
Subsequently, eyewitnesses reported that law enforcement officers were taking out some boxes from his house.
After his arrest, Norris was suspended from the party. Previously, the defendant was trained by the National Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse (NSPCC) and worked as a teacher and child protection officer.
"Most of the crimes were allegedly committed in the 2000s, but we are also investigating an alleged rape committed in the 2020s," a police spokesman said.
It is specified that the investigation is currently at an early stage.
On April 4, British writer Neil Gaiman was accused of human trafficking and sexual assault. Earlier, on July 3, 2024, two New Zealanders accused Gaiman of rape.
