An unidentified man in Ottawa barricaded himself in the Canadian Parliament building. This was announced on Saturday, April 5, according to The Toronto Star.

An Ottawa police post on social media said that "there is a man barricaded in the Eastern Block area," police urged people to avoid the area, noting that there were no reports of injuries.

The streets in front of the federal building are cordoned off.

Earlier, on March 13, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro, a man at a bus station took 18 people hostage. Three hours after the incident began, the attacker surrendered to the police and all the hostages were released.
