WSJ calls Xi Jinping the winner in Trump's trade war

President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping is winning the trade war unleashed by US President Donald Trump. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Friday, April 4.
"Trump's comprehensive tariffs will change the world order in many ways, and one winner has already emerged — Xi Jinping," the publication says.
It is noted that for many years the US policy has been aimed at weakening the economic relations of European countries with China. Now, the restoration of ties with China is a matter of time, the newspaper writes.
In addition, according to the newspaper, Asian countries have increased their anti-American sentiment after the tariffs imposed by Trump, which will lead them to choose China as an alternative trading partner.
On April 4, the US president commented on retaliatory duties from the People's Republic of China (PRC), saying that Beijing "panicked" and "did the wrong thing." China imposed duties of 34% against the United States on the same day.
On April 2, the American leader announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the European Union (EU), this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. In his speech, the president called April 2 the day when Americans will become rich again.
