Forecaster predicted a cold snap in southern Russia next week

In the regions of the southern European part of the Russian Federation, a significant cold snap is expected by the middle of next week, as well as rains starting this weekend. This was announced on April 5 by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, in an interview with TASS.
According to him, the temperature in the southern regions will be two to three degrees above normal over the weekend. For Kuban, it will be up to +20 degrees, and for the Rostov region — up to +18.
"And by the middle of the week — on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday — a noticeable decrease in temperature is predicted. And already the daytime temperature will be in the range from +5 to +10 degrees," the forecaster said.
At the same time, even negative temperatures are expected at night in the steppe regions of Crimea.
Intense rains and thunderstorms are also forecast for Sunday and Monday in this part of the country, as well as winds up to 25 m/s. Sleet may fall in mountainous areas.
"I can't say that this is a bad thing, because in the south of European Russia there was a shortage of precipitation back in autumn, and little snow fell in winter. Therefore, these precipitation events are useful for filling the soil with moisture," Vilfand added.
Earlier, on April 4, it was reported that Muscovites are also expected to experience a cold snap and cloudy weather this weekend. Snow is expected in Moscow on Sunday, April 6, with daytime temperatures ranging from -1 to 0 degrees.
