Degtyarev respected the refusal of Russian gymnasts to participate in FIG tournaments

The Russian Ministry of Sports has expressed respect for the decision of Russian gymnasts to refuse to participate in competitions under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). This was announced on April 5 by the Minister of Sports of Russia Mikhail Degtyarev, his comment is quoted by the press service of the department.
"We respect today's decision of the gymnasts to refuse to participate in the upcoming competitions under the auspices of FIG. This is the position of athletes exclusively, they have shown solidarity and loyalty to the good old principle of "one for all and all for one," TASS quoted Degtyarev as saying.
He stressed that the issue of admission of Russian athletes remains a key issue during all international negotiations and meetings.
"We are systematically working to restore the rights of our athletes at international competitions," Degtyarev added.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Russian gymnasts who received neutral status refused to perform at international tournaments. The reason for the decision was the numerous unjustified and biased refusals by the FIG special committee to allow Russian gymnastics representatives to compete.
