The National Hockey League (NHL) is lucky to have such an outstanding player as Washington Capitals hockey player Alexander Ovechkin. This was announced on April 5 by Bill Daley, vice commissioner of the organization, in an interview with Sport Express.

The official called it extremely impressive that Ovechkin repeated the record of Canadian Wayne Gretzky for goals in the NHL regular season.

"I really like what Alexander has brought to the NHL over the last 20 years..."We're very lucky to have him working in our league," Daley said.

The Vice Commissioner noted the passionate love of the Russian hockey player for his sport and his outstanding ability to infect everyone with enthusiasm.

Earlier that day, in a match against the Chicago Blackhawks, Ovechkin scored his 894th goal in the NHL regular season and repeated Gretzky's sniper record. The Canadian hockey player personally congratulated the Russian player on repeating his record for goals in the NHL. The athletes also took a photo together in the locker room after the match. The NHL recognized the Russian as the first and second stars of the last game day.
