Ovechkin's teacher spoke about his personal qualities during his school years.

Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club, was distinguished in high school by his activity, energy and love of sports. The teacher of the legendary hockey player Rudy Betretdinova told Izvestia about this on April 5.
The teacher noted that her former student in childhood was a very energetic, athletic, active, kind, non-confrontational and very sociable student.
"In some fun starts, maybe he was the captain of the team and could really stand up for the team, guide the guys <...> And since he's a friendly enough kid, I can't say there were any serious misunderstandings among the guys," Betretdinova said.
At the same time, Ovechkin was an average student in academic performance, and his grades were different. For example, the hockey player was distinguished by his abilities in mathematics and was good at verbal calculations. The teacher also added that Ovechkin's parents were always in contact and "really engaged in his upbringing."
In the match against HC Chicago, Ovechkin scored his 894th goal in the regular season of the NHL that day and repeated the sniper record of Wayne Gretzky. The Canadian hockey player personally congratulated the Russian player on repeating his record for goals in the National Hockey League (NHL). The athletes also took a photo together in the locker room after the match. The NHL recognized the Russian as the first and second stars of the last game day.
Soviet and Russian hockey forward Ravil Yakubov told Izvestia that when Ovechkin surpasses Gretzky's achievement, his new record is unlikely to be beaten for many decades.
