Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special presidential Envoy for Investment and Economic Cooperation, on April 5 called on former US Ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul to become a peacemaker.

On the eve of McFaul in the social network X (ex. Twitter) called on the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund to "stop exaggerating threats about World War III" and admit to allegedly wanting to "bribe the US administration with economic deals."

"Dear Mike, I believe in you. You can stop being a player of the deep state (or the "professional state", as you prefer). Give up your unrealistic boring mantras and start offering realistic solutions. Be a peacemaker," the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund wrote in response to the publication.

He added that McFaul's friends from the "professional state" may also follow his example.

On April 3, Dmitriev met with the special envoy of the President of the United States, Steve Witkoff, in Washington. He became the first representative of the Russian government to visit the United States on an official visit after the start of the special operation in 2022.

The next day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there was cautious optimism in the United States after Dmitriev's talks. According to him, work is currently underway in various areas within the framework of negotiations with Washington.
