Hockey player Kozhevnikov noted Ovechkin's efforts in achieving the record

Russian forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club Alexander Ovechkin scored the puck "at the right moment, at the right hour," equaling the number of successful shots with four-time Stanley Cup winner Wayne Gretzky in goals in the regular National Hockey League (NHL) championships. This was announced to Izvestia on April 5 by two-time Olympic hockey champion Alexander Kozhevnikov.
"Congratulations to Sasha and his whole family. Sanya is just a handsome man, there's no other way to say it," Kozhevnikov added.
He also called Ovechkin an open, simple and sociable person who can easily build a dialogue even with children.
Earlier that day, in a match against HC Chicago, Ovechkin scored his 894th goal in the regular season of the NHL and repeated Gretzky's sniper record. The Canadian hockey player personally congratulated the Russian player on repeating his record for NHL goals. The athletes also took a photo together in the locker room after the match.
The NHL recognized Ovechkin as the first and second stars of the last game day.
