For the first time, fans of Asian exoticism were able to hear works by Thai composers performed by the Bangkok Royal Symphony Orchestra in Moscow. In the Zaryadye Concert Hall, where the Izvestia correspondent visited, on April 4, melodies performed by Thai composers were played for the audience, part of the program was created by members of the royal family.

Thus, Her Royal Highness, Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rachakanya of Thailand is the author of eight musical compositions. Two of them were performed from the Zaryadye stage — a fantasy for violin and a piano concerto with orchestra.

The performance of the guests from Thailand was a bright finale of the year of cross-cultural exchanges between the two countries. The culture of Thailand and the whole oriental flavor were revealed thanks to unique instruments and specially conceived musical effects.

"This is classical music, such good symphonic music, by the way, with an amazing orchestration, admittedly very colorful, colorful, professionally made, with elements of national music, you can hear it," Hayk Kazazyan, soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic, winner of the 12th and 15th international Tchaikovsky Competitions, shared his impressions.

The orchestra uses unusual ethnic instruments in its arsenal. One of these is gong—tam-tam, which sounds in particularly magnificent introductions or finales of works.

"But the most unusual object on the stage is an overturned bicycle. It works like this: a percussionist turns the pedals, and these light clicks of a freely rotating wheel create the desired effect specially conceived by the composer," said correspondent Maxim Prikhod.

As the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation, Sasiwat Wongsinsawat, noted, Moscow and Bangkok, despite the great distance, have been linked by long friendly relations for 128 years. Two days earlier, the orchestra also performed triumphantly in St. Peteburg. Maestro Potawanit was everywhere at the conductor's desk.

"The composers who work in Thailand are well acquainted with world music and musical literature. I think that for Moscow, for the Moscow public, and for the St. Petersburg public, this is, of course, a great discovery," added Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural cooperation.

On April 3, the concert of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra was held at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic. The orchestra's musicians played in Russia for the first time in its history. The public's interest in one of the best bands in Southeast Asia is enormous - there was not a single empty seat in the hall. The orchestra has prepared a special program for the Russian audience. As Alexander Beglov, the governor of St. Petersburg, concluded, real art is outside politics, and this is confirmed by the arrival of Thai musicians.
