Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will hold a telephone conference with US President Donald Trump next week, during which he will discuss new trade duties with him. This was reported by JIJI News on April 5.

"Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated on the Yomiuri television program that he intends to hold a telephone conference with President Trump within the next week regarding the retaliatory duties of the United States," the material says.

According to the prime minister, he also intends to consider new proposals for Japanese investments in the US economy. At the same time, he gave a negative assessment to the very fact of the introduction of duties.

On April 2, Trump announced large-scale measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For Europe, this figure has been increased to 20%, and for China — to 34%. In his speech, the president called April 2 the day when Americans will become rich again. The next day, the Chinese authorities decided to impose retaliatory duties of 34% on goods imported from the United States.
