Investigations are underway against the former governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Evgeniy Kuyvashev. This was reported on April 4 by the newspaper Kommersant, citing sources.

"The former governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, became a defendant in a criminal case on a corruption offense. Active investigative actions have been carried out with Mr. Kuvaishev for several days," the newspaper writes.

It is noted that he left the governor's post a week ago. The reason for this decision is currently unknown.

As a result of the investigative measures, Kuvaishev may be given a preventive measure or denied it.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Denis Pasler as interim governor of the Sverdlovsk Region. The relevant decree was published on March 26 on the Kremlin's website. It is specified that Pasler was appointed to the post of acting governor of the Sverdlovsk region in connection with the early resignation of the previous head of the region Evgeny Kuyvashev at his own request.
