The Investigative Committee began checking after the fire of a five-storey building in the Kemerovo region

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has launched an investigation into the fact that the roof of a five-story residential building in Mezhdurechensk, Kemerovo region (Kuzbass), caught fire. This was announced on Saturday, April 5, by the department.

"The investigative department for the city of Mezhdurechensk of the SU IC of Russia for the Kemerovo region — Kuzbass is conducting a pre—investigation check on the fact that the roof of an apartment building in Mezhdurechensk caught fire," the press service of the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

According to the Investigative Committee, the incident occurred on April 5, 2025 at about 00:30 (local time, 20:30 Moscow time).

They added that a set of verification measures is currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances and causes of the fire.

The fire of the roof of a five-storey building on an area of 900 sq. m. m happened earlier in the day. 120 people, including 21 children, evacuated on their own. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation rescued 17 people, four of them minors. The residents of the burning house were provided with a temporary accommodation facility.
