Russia has warned about the consequences of deploying Western troops in Ukraine

Sending Western military personnel to Ukraine without encouragement from the UN will mean their direct participation in the conflict, said Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the organization.
Izvestia asked him whether Moscow would regard the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine without a UN mandate as their direct involvement in the conflict on Kiev's side.
"Yes, the minister has already mentioned this," Polyansky replied.
According to the diplomat, the issue of deploying peacekeeping missions in Ukraine is not on the organization's agenda.
"The issue of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine is not currently being discussed at the UN," he added.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the appearance of European peacekeepers in Ukraine would mean that the root causes of the crisis would not disappear for the Russian Federation.
