The deal of US President Donald Trump on the TikTok social network, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has been suspended after China announced that it would abandon it due to duties. This was reported on Saturday, April 5, by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

"The deal to allocate TikTok assets in the United States was suspended after China made it clear that it would not approve the deal due to President Donald Trump's announcement of reciprocal tariffs," the publication says.

It is clarified that the deal was approved by ByteDance investors and the US government.

Earlier, on March 27, Trump said that the United States does not rule out the possibility of reducing duties on goods from China in the event of a successful TikTok deal. He added that there are many options for acquiring a social network, and expressed confidence that the most profitable one for the United States will be chosen.

The American leader has set a deadline of April 5 for ByteDance to sell the American segment of the app, otherwise the United States will ban the use of TikTok in the country. However, after that, he posted on his Truth Social social network a decree on the continued operation of the application in the country for 75 days. According to him, this is necessary to resolve all necessary legal issues.
