- France has introduced an emergency plan of action due to the outbreak of chikungunya fever.

In France, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) has launched an emergency "white plan" at the University Hospital of Reunion amid an outbreak of chikungunya fever. This was reported on April 4 by the France Bleu radio network.
The White Plan was launched by the Regional Health Agency at the University Hospital of Reunion in response to the ever—increasing spread of the epidemic of chikungunya, a mosquito—borne disease," the report says.
It clarifies that the protocol of the "white plan" allows medical institutions to quickly mobilize human and material resources to combat the spread of the disease. It is noteworthy that the protocol was last activated in Reunion in January 2022 during the COVID-19 epidemic.
"According to the latest health report published on Wednesday, more than 20,000 cases of the disease have been identified since August 2024. Two people, aged 86 and 96, have officially died from the virus," France Bleu reports.
Currently, there is no effective treatment for the disease. However, in June last year, the vaccine against the virus was officially approved for sale to adults in Europe.
On April 3, virologist Alexei Agranovsky denied the WHO's statement about the threat of a new pandemic. The specialist pointed out that this statement should not be taken seriously. To date, according to Agranovsky, "there is nothing serious on the horizon." This does not mean that it will not appear. He stressed that there is no immediate threat, as there is no point in scaring people in vain. According to him, it is necessary to warn in the presence of a real threat, which is currently absent.
