Jeffrey Sachs talks about Trump's interest in Russian resources

US President Donald Trump is interested in Russia because there are many resources here. Economist Jeffrey Sachs told Izvestia about this on Saturday, April 5.
He added that perhaps Trump is counting on the support of the Russian Federation regarding the issue of Greenland, where there are also many resources. Sachs did not rule out the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions, but did not specify a time frame.
"Russia and the United States will not be friends, but partnership is possible in the future. It's dangerous to be friends with the United States, there are many countries that didn't like it," he said.
According to the economist, the American president has changed the course of his policy compared to his first term because he won by criticizing former leader Joe Biden, so he must do everything differently from him.
At the same time, Trump considers Ukraine an "unprofitable project."
On April 3, Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic cooperation with foreign countries, met with Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy of the President of the United States, in Washington. He became the first representative of the Russian government to visit the United States on an official visit after the start of the special operation in 2022. After the meeting, an official on the social network X called the dialogue between the two countries important. The Director General of the Russian Direct Investment Fund attached to the publication a picture showing a plane heading towards Washington.
