Ukraine and France discussed possible energy projects in the Chernobyl zone

Ukraine and France are jointly exploring the possibility of launching renewable energy projects in the Chernobyl exclusion Zone. This was announced on April 4 by the Ukrainian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.
They pointed out that on that day a meeting was held between Svetlana Grinchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, and Pierre Elbron, Commissioner of the President of France for Assistance and Reconstruction of Ukraine. During the visit, the French delegation assessed the possibilities of investing in renewable energy in the exclusion zone.
"This meeting is another step towards strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and France in the field of nuclear safety and restoring environmental stability in the Chernobyl zone," the ministry said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.
Earlier, on November 5, 2024, the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection forces of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said that the Ukrainian authorities were avoiding giving experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) full access to all facilities located in the Chernobyl exclusion Zone.
