A case has been opened in New Moscow over the derailment of a repair train.

The South-Western Investigative Department has opened a criminal case on violation of labor protection requirements in connection with the derailment of a train in New Moscow. This was announced on April 4 by the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport (MCT) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

It is specified that the criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of labor protection requirements, resulting in the death of a person by negligence").

As a result of the incident, a man born in 1979 died, and three others received various injuries.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, investigators and criminologists are conducting an inspection of the scene, a set of investigative actions is being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

On April 4, a repair train derailed on a section of the railway under construction in the settlement of Novofedorovskoye. According to the Izvestia source, three wagons overturned, and three people were previously injured — all had fractures of body parts.
