Almost half of the UN HRC countries did not support the commission's mandate on Ukraine

When voting in the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council, 22 out of 47 countries opposed the extension of the mandate of the "independent" commission to investigate Russia's actions in Ukraine, it was reported on April 4 following a meeting.

On April 2, after a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and his Chinese counterpart Liu Bin, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia was open to realistic peace initiatives to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, as well as mediation proposals.
