Three fraudsters were convicted in St. Petersburg for selling non-existent equipment

The Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg found three citizens guilty of 300 counts of fraud. This was announced on April 4 by the joint press service of the city courts.

The department's Telegram channel clarifies that the attackers created an online home appliance store and attracted customers with low prices. After the required full prepayment from customers, the scammers made false promises to deliver the goods to their homes, and then stopped contacting them. Since 2020, the attackers have committed 308 thefts totaling 6.8 million rubles.

One woman and two men were found guilty. One of them was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison and served his sentence in a general regime colony. The rest of the band members received 6.5 years and 6 years and 4 months of probation.

The defendants admitted their guilt, repented and apologized. They compensated some of the victims for the damage. Two of them actively contributed to the disclosure and investigation of their crimes.

Earlier, on February 24, in St. Petersburg, police detained two residents of Vsevolozhsky district who hacked accounts of marketplace users in order to steal goods. It was established that at least 11 people became victims of intruders.
