Norway has increased its aid to Ukraine by $5 billion in 2025 to a total of $8.1 billion. Information about this appeared on the government's website on April 4.

"The financing will be used to strengthen Ukraine's defense capability and improve its negotiating position," the statement said.

The funds will be used to provide military support through international initiatives and the purchase of weapons for Kiev. It clarifies that priority will be given to air defense systems, the supply of artillery ammunition and drones, as well as "strengthening Ukraine's maritime capabilities."

The allocation of additional funds will bring the financing of the Nansen program in the period from 2023 to 2030 to almost 205 billion Norwegian kroner (about $20 billion).

On April 2, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that in the first quarter of 2025, NATO countries allocated about €20 billion for military assistance to Ukraine. He added that the countries of the bloc will continue to support Kiev.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said on April 1 that the country would provide Ukraine with more than €11 billion in military aid up to and including 2029. In addition, on March 26, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris would provide additional €2 billion in military aid to Kiev.

On March 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov drew attention to the fact that European countries do not want the conflict in Ukraine to end and demand "the continuation of the banquet."
