The State Traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections in the regions

On Friday and next weekend, April 4-6, the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists.

Preventive measures will be held in the Tver Region, Kirov Region, Tomsk Region, Ulyanovsk Region, Murmansk Region, Smolensk Region, Bryansk Region and other regions of the country.

"On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Mass checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are carried out regularly by traffic inspectors on weekends," Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

He urged not to remain indifferent and inform the police when they see people driving drunk, behaving inappropriately on the road and creating dangerous situations. The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that for driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing a medical examination, it provides for the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine.

Earlier in the day, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced a raid in which special attention will be paid to taxi drivers. Preventive measures will take place next weekend, on April 5-6.

Also on Friday, it was reported that the State Duma offered to return a discount for motorists in the amount of 50% upon timely payment of the fine. The relevant amendments will be proposed by the deputies of the LDPR faction.
