Trump called retaliatory duties against the United States by China a panic

On April 4, US President Donald Trump commented on retaliatory duties from the People's Republic of China (PRC), saying that China "panicked" and "did the wrong thing" by imposing tariffs on the United States.
"China did the wrong thing, they panicked — the only thing they can't afford!" Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.
China imposed duties of 34% against the United States on the same day. They will come into force on April 10. It is specified that goods that were shipped before April 10 and arrived in China no later than May 13 will not be subject to tariffs.
On April 2, Trump announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. In his speech, the president called April 2 the day when Americans will become rich again.
