The expert named the main mistakes of novice athletes

The main mistake of novice athletes is trying to practice intensively and often at once, which quickly leads to abandonment of sports. Meanwhile, you should train according to a pre-planned schedule, paying attention to regularity rather than intensity. On April 6, Ksenia Gufranova, co-founder of the international network of ballet and stretching studios LEVITA, told Izvestia about how to consolidate sports in her life.
"Don't immediately try to do multi-hour workouts, you don't need a schedule where sports are every day. Start with short but regular exercises — 10-15 minutes a day will be enough to gradually get used to physical activity," the expert recommended.
She explained that the main thing is regularity, not intensity. In addition, you don't have to limit yourself to the gym — you can try various activities: fitness, yoga, dancing, swimming, running or martial arts.
"Look for formats and directions that are suitable. If you enjoy the process, sports will be a joy and will become an integral part of life faster," the specialist clarified.
According to her, training sessions should become part of the schedule, like important meetings or work tasks. She advises you to plan in advance when and where the class will take place and stick to this plan.
The environment is equally important. According to Gufranova, a sports family or friends is already half the success. However, if your loved ones are not passionate about training, then you can join the community at a fitness club, dance studio, or running community. She explained that if you train with like—minded people, you get a sense of responsibility towards the group, which helps you not to miss classes.
The expert also noted the importance of recording success — you can take photos before and after the start of training, record body measurements and weight. In addition, it is useful to record the running time and note how many repetitions of a particular exercise have already been mastered.
"To keep motivated and bring an element of competitiveness, participate in activities related to your training activities. These can be dance festivals, marathons, swimming competitions, or yoga retreats. Such events help to feel the result of their work, inspire and open up new opportunities for self—realization," suggested Gufranova.
Earlier, on April 4, Ekaterina Demyanovskaya, a neurologist and expert at the Hemotest laboratory, told Izvestia about the benefits of physical activity for the brain. According to her, regular exercise stimulates the blood supply to the brain, strengthens existing neural connections and promotes the formation of new ones. She explained that the brain, like muscles, needs to be trained to solve logical riddles and puzzles, learn foreign languages, read as much as possible, and play intellectual games.
