The EU raised the issue of the future trade agreement with Ukraine

Members of the European Parliament (EP) from Poland, Piotr Muller and Waldemar Buda, have asked the European Commission (EC) about a possible extension of the duty-free trade agreement with Ukraine, which expires on June 5, 2025.
They recalled that since June 2022, the European Union (EU) has adopted a decision on the temporary abolition of duties and quotas on Ukrainian agricultural products, designed to support the Ukrainian economy after the outbreak of the conflict, and Kiev hopes for a further extension of this agreement.
"In recent months, some Member States, especially those bordering Ukraine, have expressed concern about the destabilization of their agricultural markets due to increased supplies of Ukrainian products. This led to the introduction of protective mechanisms and active discussions in the EU Council," the parliamentarians said. Lenta.Ru .
In this regard, members of the European Parliament asked the EC whether it plans to extend the current duty-free trade agreement with Ukraine after June 5, 2025 and, if so, on what terms, as well as how the European Commission assesses the consequences of this agreement for the economies of the EU countries.
On March 7, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the authorities of the republic do not intend to close the country's border to goods from Ukraine and completely abandon the green course of the European Union.
On March 17, the EU Council approved the payment of €3.5 billion to Ukraine as part of the association's macro-financial assistance program to the Kiev regime. Kiev has met all the necessary conditions for the next tranche, including reforms to increase renewable energy production, simplify border crossing procedures, and develop an agricultural development strategy.
Later, on March 23, it was reported that the EU lacks both the strength and the desire to quickly help Kiev. It was clarified that the bloc was mistaken, believing that it could act on an equal footing with the United States.
On March 24, Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko said that the Ukrainian authorities fear devastating consequences if the European Union (EU) does not maintain a duty-free trade regime, RT reports.
