The media reported a possible increase in the duration of the US operation in Yemen.

The US military operation in Yemen could last for six months amid "limited success" against the fortified positions of the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis), and the total cost of strikes could exceed $1 billion as early as next week. This was reported on April 4 by The New York Times (NYT), citing sources.
"By next week, the total cost could significantly exceed $1 billion, and the Pentagon may soon have to request additional funds from Congress," the publication says.
According to an unnamed official, the American strikes, which Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called Operation Courageous Horseman in honor of the troops that Theodore Roosevelt commanded in Cuba during the Spanish-American War, could probably last about six months.
According to the newspaper, the US Armed Forces are using a large number of precision-guided munitions, which has already raised concerns about the level of their stocks in case of conflict in Taiwan. As a result, according to NYT sources, the Pentagon has already spent about $200 million worth of ammunition in three weeks.
At the same time, Pentagon officials admit that so far they have achieved only "limited success" in destroying the vast arsenal of the Houthis. According to US officials, the weapons used by Ansar Allah to attack ships in the Red Sea are housed in fortified bunkers.
On April 2, the US Armed Forces attacked a Houthi training camp in Al-Hodeidah (western Yemen). As noted in the publication, the United States used powerful high-explosive aerial bombs during the shelling. It is specified that as a result of the airstrikes, three people were killed and several others were injured.
US President Donald Trump said on March 31 that the country would continue to attack the Yemeni Houthis until they no longer pose a threat to freedom of navigation. On March 15, the American leader announced that he had ordered the American military to begin operations against Ansar Allah. Soon, the central command of the US Armed Forces announced the start of a large-scale operation in Yemen.
