The launch of Lada Iskra production, the development of a new 1.8-liter engine for the Niva family and the launch of the second—generation Vesta Sport are key projects for the development of AvtoVAZ production in 2025. This was stated by the head of the company Maxim Sokolov in Tolyatti at an industry meeting on the development of regional suppliers of the automotive industry, the corporate VAZ community "At the plant" on the VKontakte social network on April 4.

The president of AVTOVAZ said that 2025, according to forecasts, is a crisis year, and that imposes special obligations on everyone on whom the development of the automotive industry depends. The development of own cars and independent platforms can ensure the volume of orders and, in general, become a prospect for all enterprises in the industry, Sokolov emphasized.

As previously reported, the debut of the upgraded Lada Vesta Sport will take place in the second quarter of 2025, the company has not yet disclosed details about the new product. The start of mass production of the new Lada Iskra family of cars will take place on April 19, 2025.

The new engine for the Lada Niva family is an existing 1.8-liter unit, but with an eight-valve block head. According to Izvestia, it will develop 90 hp and about 120 Nm of torque. The first engine will receive the Niva Travel, then the classic Legend.
