The Russian delegation demonstrated exceptional skill in negotiations with the United States in Riyadh on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. This was reported by The Washington Post on April 4, citing analysts.

For example, they argue that the American negotiating team cannot compare with seasoned former Soviet officials with decades of negotiating experience and knowledge of Ukraine.

"The American negotiators on Ukraine were overshadowed by the Russian ones," the article says.

At the same time, WP believes that there are no experienced experts on Russia in the American team.

The parties will continue to discuss the full—fledged work of the diplomatic missions, but negotiations on the Black Sea Initiative are on hold.

Earlier, on April 1, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov pointed out problems in the US approach to resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He noted that Moscow had not heard that US President Donald Trump had given Kiev a specific signal to cease hostilities.

On the same day, Trump said he wanted Russia's consent to conclude a deal to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, he added that he would not like to impose secondary duties against Russia, but is ready to take such a step if there is no progress on the settlement.

The Russian delegation arrived in Riyadh for talks with the American side on March 23. The next day, 12-hour talks were held between representatives of Russia and the United States.
