It is necessary to fight Russophobia and hatred of the Russian people. On April 4, Lyubosh Blaga, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from Slovakia, told Izvestia.

"We should just fight for the historical truth, which is that Russians and other Soviet peoples are our heroes. They liberated us from fascism, giving us sovereignty, peace and freedom," he said.

In addition, Blaga called attempts to rewrite the history of the Great Patriotic War "the germ of fascism." According to him, the current mood in the West is similar to the hatred that existed in Germany in the 1930s and 1940s under Adolf Hitler.

"And this is absolutely unacceptable, immoral, and we will fight this evil," the MP said.

He also pointed out the need to preserve the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War and the heroism of the Russian people. Blaga stressed the importance of protecting memorials and military cemeteries associated with Soviet soldiers.

He added that under the current Slovak government, any anti-Russian and Russophobic campaigns have no chance of success.

On the same day, Peter Marcek, a former member of the Slovak parliament, told Izvestia that it would be a disgrace for the entire state to forget the feat of the Red Army during the Second World War. Meanwhile, it is now a trend in the West to rewrite history and claim that it was the Anglo-Saxons who saved the world from fascism.
