- NATO pointed to the lack of a promise to Ukraine to accept it after the end of the conflict.

No one promised Ukraine to join NATO immediately after the end of the conflict. This was announced on April 4 by the Secretary General of the alliance Mark Rutte.
"That's right, at the Washington summit, NATO promised Ukraine an irreversible path to membership. However, no one said that membership would become part of the peace agreement," Rutte said at a press conference following the meeting of the foreign ministers of the bloc's countries, posted on the YouTube channel.
This is how the Secretary General answered journalists' questions related to the alliance's fickle opinion regarding Ukraine's admission to the alliance.
On March 31, US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that the issue of Ukraine joining NATO amid the conclusion of a deal on rare earth minerals had "never been discussed."
