The elimination of the consequences of the fire at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair plant in Petrozavodsk will take two to three months. This was announced on April 4 by the Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov.
"The duration of work to eliminate the consequences of the fire will be 2-3 months. The plant will continue to operate normally, its main workshops are not affected," the message posted on his Telegram channel says.
He added that the restoration work will be handled by a Military construction company. Within two weeks, specialists will examine the fire site and assess the amount of work to be done.
Parfenchikov noted that the crab ships and icebreakers located on the stocks will be completed on schedule.
A fire at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair plant on an area of 1.5 thousand square meters in Karelia occurred on April 3. Later, it was liquidated and the structures were poured. As a result of the incident, three people were injured.
Investigators have opened a criminal case into the fire.
